At Happy Home Therapies, LLC we provide high-quality, evidenced-based, and family-centered occupational therapy and feeding therapy services to children in their home and community environments in the Northwestern region of Columbus.
What is occupational therapy?
OT helps children gain independence in their “jobs”, which include playing, learning, and daily self care.
At Happy Home Therapies we focus on the following populations:
Chronic Health Conditions OTs are experts at adapting the environment, modifying tasks, and developing skills to increase independence with daily living activities to improve quality of life for children impacted by chronic conditions. This includes diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, low vision / cortical visual impairment, anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, cerebral palsy, sensory processing disorder, learning disabilities, juvenile arthritis, developmental coordination disorder, Down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, etc.
Developmental Delays
OTs work with children to target achievement of gross and fine motor developmental milestones such as rolling, crawling, sitting, standing, reaching and grasping toys, clapping, self-feeding, and so on. Children who were born prematurely or spent time in the NICU often show delays in these milestones and would benefit from occupational therapy services. Birth injuries, such as brachial plexus injury, or congenital malformations could also result in delayed achievement of milestones. OTs also work with school aged children demonstrating delays in fine and visual motor skills, such as handwriting, scissor use, and hand-eye coordination needed for playing with toys or sports.
Feeding Challenges
Our OTs are trained specifically to address feeding difficulties in children, such as problematic picky eating, difficulty upgrading texture from baby food to solid food, delayed transitions from bottle to cup drinking, delayed skill development with utensils, and strategies to manage dysphagia.
